Mud Cookies

After having the classic blog layout for a year, I felt it was time to upgrade. After many hours, (yes... I said hours) I figured how to convert a similar design to my old one. I do not know why I did not do this sooner. It is so much easier to work with and faster. HOORAY! It is not all the way done, but I will get there.

Oh... here is a recipe for some Mud Cookies. Sounds good huh!

Ingredients

• 1 stick of butter or margarine
• 2 cups sugar
• 1/2 cup milk
• 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
• 3 cups quick cooking oats
• 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
1. Bring butter, sugar, milk and cocoa to a boil over med-low heat, stirring constantly. Boil rapidly for exactly 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in other ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper and put in fridge to harden and cool. Makes around 4 Dozen.

**A side note...I just want to thank you all for the many comments I get from my family and friends. This is why I started this whole blog...is to keep in touch. I have fun doing it as well. It is like a journal, only anyone can look at it. So thanks cough Mom/Melissa/Emily/DeAnna. It makes my day when I get a sweet message from loved ones!**

Lobster for Dinner anyone?

I am so sad that this costume does not fit Courtney. She was going to be a skunk but Mark wanted a Lobster outfit. Since I picked a hot dog last year, Mark got to pick this years. Well I have to take it back! Looks like she will be a Chicken. We will see. HA! Poor Courtney she does hate wearing them, but it is only one day of the year! HA!

Vintage Thrift Finds

Who does not love the Pottery Barn? I love getting their mags in the mail. That's where I get my inspiration to decorate my home. I can't afford what they sale, so I improvise. You can get this look easily by going to your local thrift store. For these two glass containers $3.00. I can't wait till I get a few more and cluster them together like so.

CPR ready

Today I went to a CPR and first aid class. It was really fun actually, maybe it was the teacher. I was there for almost 5 hours and it went by super fast. I got to practice on a adult dummy and a infant one. I don't know if I could do CPR on an infant. At least I know now what to do, although I hope I never have too. I learned so much!

A Martha Cookie along with FHE

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Put butter and peanut butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; mix on medium speed until combined, about 2 minutes. Add sugars; mix 2 minutes. Mix in eggs. Gradually add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips, peanuts, and vanilla with a mixing spoon until well distributed. Refrigerate dough until it is slightly firm, 15 minutes.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Space balls 2 to 3 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Flatten slightly. Bake until just golden, about 13 minutes. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool. Serve with ice cream.

Here's to a FHE evening filled with Martha's cookies!

Little Monsters

These are so cool! At work yesterday, we had a contest to see who could make the best monsters. Hands down we have a kid who is in Kindergarten and his monsters are the best. I loved them so much, that he gave them to me. I then cut around them and glued it to heavy card stock paper and strung some ribbon at the top. Ta da... a Halloween decoration for your home. They are pretty SPOOKY!

Boo

Mark and I went to Chandler, like we do most weekends. It is a 30 minute drive from our home, so we do go often. Well we stopped at a Halloween costume store and browsed around at the costumes.
Mark in a mask!
Ok this picture of this kid cracks me up. His expression says it all! If I had a kid, this would be there costume. I am getting a skunk costume this year for Courtney. She has to suffer one day out of the year. This one is cute!
I like this one! I can't part with $40.00 dollars though. Onto the thrift store...

The Annie Hair Do Not

While getting my Halloween items out of my box of Christmas/Thanksgiving/Halloween decorations, I came across the angel Annie tree topper. I have been the ANGEL on our family's Christmas tree for many years! (I am an Angel you know) Yes... my Mom use to cut my hair super short and curl it like Annie. Mind you it was my favorite movie at the time, but if you said I looked like her, I would get upset!

Once my mom had spent hours on my lovely curly hair and dear sweet Melissa came along and said I looked like Annie. Well later that day, I had stuck my head under the sink faucet and washed the curls away! HA! That's how I was! You can't call me Annie and not expect me to accept it. I was a feisty little thing! I use to call Mark (my brother) PIG DROPPINGS. You might wonder where on earth did I get that potty language. Well the truth is I got it from the Movie ANNIE. You might also wonder if I liked my Annie hair do. Well... No but it was fine as long as you did not say I looked like Annie.

I was the kid, who's time was spent amongst the bugs. No barbie dolls or baby dolls ever tied me down. I was a outside girl making mud pies and coloring rocks for the neighbors. You know the Annie type of girl. HA!

Late Party

I did'nt tell anyone at my work it was my Birthday in August and last week the kids surprised me with a Birthday party. They got me a big cake, presents and we had a glow in the dark party. Then we watched Monster House! It was so much fun! They gave me this Halloween decoration that they all signed. It was so sweet!
Looks like me a little!

Little Us!

Ok...so I am a sucker for any pictures of me when I was younger. My Mom emailed this picture today. She got it from Tim. Tim is the guy next to my brother Mark. He is a childhood friend of my sister Melissa. Anyways I do love pictures like this just because there are not to many of them. Can you guess what Livingston kid I am? HA!

Around the Bend

Next to the famous western city Tombstone AZ, is a cozy little old mining town named Bisbee. My heart loves visiting little places like this. My Dad was born in a old mining town and my Grandpa use to work in the mines. Anytime I can stop and see these places, I always do. These are a few of my pictures that I took while stopping there. If you are ever in Tombstone, AZ and have some extra time, do stop in Bisbee.

These are stencil art works that were on some of the brick walls.

Little details where ever you looked. It was fun taking pictures!
